 தங்கம் வைரம் கொண்டு அலங்கரிக்கப்பட்ட அந்த சிலை பெருமாள் சிலையா அல்லது முருகன் சிலையா தெரியுமா?

காவிரி தெளிவாக வந்ததும் , ஒரு சுமங்கலியை வரவேற்பது போல மஞ்சளும் குங்குமமும் முளைபாரியும் போட்டு அவளை வயலுக்குள் வரவேற்பார்கள். " அம்மா அம்மா " வா என்று விழுந்து கும்பிடுகிற பெண்கள் கூட உண்டு.

When entire history of world is written in 100 pages, an entire page will have his history. Cultural History of India can be classified "Before and After Raja Raja Chozhan". He can be quoted in history, economics, statistics, religion, WAR, literature, politics and moreover in peoples heart even after 1000 years, not just like today's political personalities being forgotten after every 15 years. So what cholans did was they create an dam anicut. Grand anicut (Kallanai Dam). Built by Karikalan Cholan in 1st century A.D. almost 2000 years ago. In an uncontrollable running water of heavy force, even elephants often taken away alongwith, he built a dam. It is not at all an simple task, when No Paper is being invented, No testing methods term is in existence, No records of an similar structure (Dam) in Southeast asia, Not even proper construction equipments, Not even a multiwheeled load carrier to transport huge rocks, moreover in tons of running water without diverting it not even temporarily, cholans built it. It was first dam in southeast asia, it is considered to be oldest stone water-diversion or water-regulator structures in the world which is still in use.
